So back in late June, for the tenth year in a row, I was helping out at JEMS Mt Hermon Conference Sr. High Camp (a mouthful, I know) down in Watsonville. Can I just say that I miss it still? Even now, ten years into it, and being in my late twenties. What can I say? It’s great fun and life changing stuff!
The above shot was a fun little experiment, by the way. I’m sort of a jack-of-all-trades staffer, helping out with all kinds of odds and ends – though mostly technical stuff. My big responsibility, however, is taking photos (shock!) during the week and putting together a slideshow for the kids to enjoy at the end. Taking shots during a morning or evening session is tricky as you can imagine – your angles and spots are limited, and respectfulness is the key word. So near the end of the week, as I was compiling photos, I decided I needed some new perspectives. Thanks to my handy-dandy Pocket Wizards, I was able to set up a camera on stage in the rear and trigger it wirelessly from the sound/tech booth way in the back. I’m pretty happy with the result, to put it lightly.
