It took a while this year, but the cold has finally arrived in the bay area. Woke up to a brisk 38ºF according to the tv weatherman. As much as I enjoy the holiday season, I can’t help but walk around thinking of warmer times and places…
As the post title says, I’m here – I’m alive. Just now coming up to breathe after diving deep into the abyss the past couple of months. Why? School, life, some work-related changes…but regardless, I’m back! And I promise you’ll be hearing much more from me. On a positive note, I was surprised to hear from several of you that you *gasp* missed me. You really, really missed me!!! 😉

Seriously, though, it’s awful flattering that some of you have been loyally following me and noticed my departure over the last couple of months. Glad you’ve enjoyed hearing and seeing from me – so I’m committed to bringing you more in response. Let’s stay together! (Al Green anyone? Ok, I promise to stop now.)
Annnnnnd to kick things off, I’m announcing today a nice little holiday treat for those of you proactive enough to grab it! I won’t spill all the details here on the blog, but how about a few key words: FREE PRODUCTS. Ok, so maybe that was just two words. Anyway, here’s what you need to do to get in on this:
- See that little bar at the top of the blog that has “about, archives, links, contact, subscribe”? Good. You passed the eye exam!
- Click on “contact” and be patient for a second or two (some browsers are worse than others).
- Fill out the form (all fields) and in the Message section, write: “I want free stuff!” along with any other little message you’d like to send me.
- Click “submit”.
- Wait with a deep, deep hunger for free stuff to come rolling in. Thumb twiddling in the meantime can be quite thrilling, from what I’ve heard. Anyway, I’ll email you details on how you can collect.

Had a chance recently to visit with Karen’s cousin, who just gave birth to the ridiculously cute baby Tyler. I know it’s cliché to say it, but come on…this guy’s just adorable. Glad he didn’t mind me taking a few snaps between micro-naps!
Can you believe it? We’ve got one on the way, too!

So back in late June, for the tenth year in a row, I was helping out at JEMS Mt Hermon Conference Sr. High Camp (a mouthful, I know) down in Watsonville. Can I just say that I miss it still? Even now, ten years into it, and being in my late twenties. What can I say? It’s great fun and life changing stuff!

The above shot was a fun little experiment, by the way. I’m sort of a jack-of-all-trades staffer, helping out with all kinds of odds and ends – though mostly technical stuff. My big responsibility, however, is taking photos (shock!) during the week and putting together a slideshow for the kids to enjoy at the end. Taking shots during a morning or evening session is tricky as you can imagine – your angles and spots are limited, and respectfulness is the key word. So near the end of the week, as I was compiling photos, I decided I needed some new perspectives. Thanks to my handy-dandy Pocket Wizards, I was able to set up a camera on stage in the rear and trigger it wirelessly from the sound/tech booth way in the back. I’m pretty happy with the result, to put it lightly. 🙂

Had a nice time out shooting some promo spots as a favor to my dad for Team Bayer, as they prepare for the MS Waves to Wine ride in September. I am not a sports photographer, and boy do I have respect for those guys now more than ever. Taking portraits is a fun challenge in itself, but snagging the shot you had in mind of relatively quick moving targets is something else!
